The BriT has now been open over 2 years and it has been THE most incredible time.
From a financial perspective the business has doubled in size and from a creative viewpoint we are quickly becoming recognised as one of the South’s leading events venue: both in variety and scale!
It would be far too lengthy to detail all the wild and wonderful proceedings to which we’ve lent our name and elbow grease but we can certainly bring you a few choice memories from our formative months.
Certainly our live acts have been incredible. We support local musicians on a weekly basis and even run a regular night where the musically or lyrically gifted among us can showcase their talents. We’ve also brought some absolute showstoppers to the BriT. Finley Quaye proved hugely popular, the godfather of house music, Marshall Jefferson ensured we did indeed ‘move our bodies’; Bez and Rowetta brought the house down with their Madchester musings and who can forget the recent Party in the Park? Notting Hill descended on Ashley Cross as Norman Jay, MBE and Jazzie B, OBE literally stopped traffic and we danced like loons! We may not have been their largest festival ever but, in terms of enthusiasm, we totally nailed it!
Our monthly comedy nights are proving ever popular. We ensure everyone gets a seat and offer meal deals which are just fantastic value; let’s face it…..who doesn’t like a good giggle?
All you sport’s fans will probably know, we had a 5.5 meter screen erected for ALL our big sporting events (not JUST footy); ever watched The Grand National where the horses are life size? Scary, and more than a bit impressive.
With a promise of a hot summer we ensured our beer garden had a major make over. A children’s play area was built and astro-turf was laid. We purchased outdoor furniture, which had been recycled and up-cycled. Our outside space has proven to be hugely popular.
We continue to run an array of events and relish a new challenge. We’ve hosted clairvoyants and mediums, burlesque dancers, quirky quizzes, vintage fairs, mod nights, tribute acts, beer and craft festivals, 50’s dance meets, scooter socials, race nights and charity days; we even have our own football team and they’re pretty tasty…
Although it’s early days Christmas bookings are already being talked about; we booked up in record time last year. We have boasted a Wonky Wonderland and Narnia so far; whatever we do next is certain to be completely tinsel-tastic with a fantastic and affordable menu to run alongside.
